About Myself

My
Story
Ken – Woodworker & Nature-Lover
With a carpenter for a father, I grew up surrounded by the scent of sawdust and the sound of tools—it seemed natural to want to create my own things out of wood.
What began as small, rough-cut projects evolved into three homes… and a whole lot in between.
I learned the importance of patience and attention to detail while working for a cabinet maker—how sanding brings out the beauty of the wood, layer by layer.
My journey has taken me down the beautiful Oregon coast, where I fell in love with a windswept beach littered with driftwood, the type of which many I’d never seen before. It’s also where I spotted my first Grey Whale.
Further south, the towering Coastal Redwoods in California forever changed how I saw myself and my place in the world.
A few years later, while living in Tofino, I built a makeshift workshop on a deck tucked into the trees. Working under a tent through stormy weather and west coast sun, I shaped everything from tables and bowls to a Moai statue for my mom—and my first carved whale tail.
Now living on Salt Spring Island and working in construction, I continue to draw inspiration from natures beauty, especially from the trees that have always amazed me.
Come by the market and say hello—see the carvings and hand-crafted pieces that carry stories of the wild coast, quiet forests, and the timeless beauty of wood.
